Does the laptop take time to open? Even if it is open, the program should be able to run? Multiple taps on the browser just keeps reloading? If you are experiencing such problems, it may be a sign that you need to upgrade the RAM of your laptop.
RAM i.e. random access memory plays an important role in the performance of the computer. When it starts getting full, then it starts sending data to the hard drive. This slows down the processing. And, its effect can be seen in the performance of the computer.
The solution is to upgrade the RAM. If you understand it in a simple way, it means to increase more RAM in the computer. But before that, check the condition of the RAM being used in the computer.
How to Check RAM Status
Some people add rap to slow down the computer. But in the end, there is no RAM because the computer is slow. This being the case, it may be wise to check the condition of the RAM being used in the computer before you buy new RAM. Follow the below procedure for this:
- Open Task Manager. For this press Ctrl+Alt+Delete simultaneously. Or you can search by clicking on the Windows button.
-After that click on Performance tab. There you can see options like CPU, Memory, Disk etc. Of which we need memory. There you can see the actual details of the currently used RAM. That is, you can see the use of real time RAM.
After this, what you need to see is whether or not you can add more RAM to the laptop. Because it is not possible to add wrap to all laptops. For this, you can use a tool like 'Crucials Memory Advisor'. Where you can know the type of RAM that can be used in your laptop, its maximum capacity, speed etc. After knowing the type and speed of RAM to be added, you have to buy it. In Nepal, RAM can also be purchased from online platforms like Neostore, ITTE, Daraz.
After purchasing the RAM you can install it in your laptop yourself. According to each brand and model, the internal design of the laptop may be different. However, here's how to upgrade the wrap that can be applied to most laptops:
- Turn off the laptop. And, make sure that the power goes to the laptop from any place.
- Turn the laptop back and open the base plate. You may also need to loosen screws during this process.
- Usually the RAM is kept inside the clip on the side of the CPU. Find that place.
- Now take out the old RAM inside the clip. However, one thing to remember is that you have to hold the RAM on its side.
-Put the new RAM in the slot like this. By doing this, the RAM should be properly seated in the slot.
-Now, after making sure that the RAM is properly seated, lock the clip.
-Replace the base plate of the laptop. And put the screw.
- Turn on the laptop. And, go to Settings>System>About. There you can see the new RAM installed.
-If there is any problem, repeat the above process and place the RAM properly in the slot.
Even if you are not tech savvy, you can go to a technician and do all these things.
