Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Ravi Lamichhane has said that the process of giving a driving license without conducting a 'road test' is wrong. Inaugurating the 'Traffic Awareness Special Campaign-2081' organized by the Valley Traffic Police Office on Sunday, Home Minister Lamichhane said that the trend of issuing licenses without road test should be changed.
"There is one body that gives driving license to the driver," Home Minister Lamichhane said, "There is another body that regulates whether the person who has obtained that license is driving properly or not." I am saying that the practice of giving driving license without road test is not right. That has to change." He says that the trend of giving license by doing general test based on making 8 English letters in the place of trial test is wrong.
Although it is not believed that the process of obtaining a driver's license should be made complicated, he said that the person carrying a vehicle on the road should know the traffic rules and should be given a license only after being able to operate the vehicle properly.
"You must be qualified to get a driving license," he said. Looking at the fatality rate of accidents, many accidents are seen with bikers."
